In house NVQ training for our staff

Recycling Lives are very proud to announce that we have just become a Franchised Registered Training Provider for and on behalf of Lancashire Adult Learning.

The RL1 building is Recycling Lives’ first SEE Learning Centre (Social Enterprise Education) and as part of the ongoing development of our Workforce Development Programme we will offer NVQs up to Level 3 in Recycling.

Tom Carysforth-Nadin (Yard Manager), Simon Green (Sales Supervisor), Robert Jackson (Compliance Team) and Nick Chadwick (Health & Safety Manager) are all undergoing training to become NVQ Assessors and will assess the learner’s ability in-house using observation, interviews and witness testimony. They’ll then help the learners compile an evidence folder. There is no cost to the learner for this “on the job” training. Chief Executive Charles Jackson said “It is our intention to have 100% of Recycling Lives staff trained to NVQ Level 2 in Recycling. By training in-house assessors we are placing ourselves to be able to achieve that with Lancashire Adult Learning”.

Recycling Lives currently employ approximately 150 staff so the training will be done in stages. Charles said “The first tranche of 20 learners have been identified and will be making a start in June on NVQ Level 2. This will then roll out through the company with further learners in July and the early learners moving onto Level 3.” His intention is not only to expand the courses offered to internal staff to include perhaps English Language but also to work outside Recycling Lives as the intention is to offer external accreditation to external companies.
