RECYCLING Lives has further cemented its relationship with HMP Preston by providing them with top quality office furniture.
Representatives from HMP Preston joined Recycling Lives, at their recent celebration, marking the honour of receiving a Queen’s Award for Enterprise in Sustainable Development and discovered the Recycling Lives BulkyWaste Service.
Already an established Referral Partner, HMP Preston made a donation to the Recycling Lives charity and in return received four desks and four, three draw side cabinets.
Commercial recycler and social welfare charity, Recycling Lives, received the furniture in a donation from BAE Systems, as part of their current decommissioning project.
Recycling Lives Residents, Future Jobs Fund workers and Achieve North West volunteers have refurbished the furniture and restored it to its former glory.
Recycling Lives Operations and Training Manager Neil Flanagan said: “Recycling Lives is a business model specifically designed to practice good Corporate Social Responsibility and to help others practice it too. HMP Preston has not only made a much needed donation to the Recycling Lives charity but it has helped create employment and training opportunities through using the Recycling Lives BulkyWaste Service.”
Recycling Lives provides life changing opportunities for individuals facing an uncertain future; through accommodation, education, training and work experience.
HMP Preston’s Employment, Education and Training Advisor Janet Jackson said: “HMP Preston has proudly worked with Recycling Lives right from the beginning of its journey as a Referral Partner.
“With the prison service having to tighten its belt, the opportunity to acquire desks through the BulkyWaste Service was a great opportunity to save money as well as a way to give something back to the community.”
