Advantage Waste Brokers welcomes new director

WEEE compliance experts Advantage Waste Brokers are welcoming a new director this month, as former MD, Ian McQuaid takes a step back into an advisory role.

Established in 2002, Advantage Waste Brokers helps organisations across Britain to fulfil their waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) recycling obligations, partnering with Recycling Lives to ensure the highest level of service to its customers.

Ian has been a crucial factor in the company’s success, bringing years of experience, extensive knowledge and a first-rate approach to customer care with him to the role. His boots will be difficult to fill, but the right man for the job has already been identified!

Recycling Lives’ development manager, David Allen – also director of Social Enterprise Lancashire Network (SELNET) and vice chairman of Lancashire Community Recycling Network – takes up the director’s mantle in Ian’s place, and is looking forward to the challenges his new role will bring.

Speaking about his new position, David commented:

“I’m looking forward to taking up my new post with Advantage Waste Brokers. I’ve been heavily involved with WEEE recycling and compliance throughout my 10 years with Recycling Lives, and this new role seems like a natural progression.

“My aim is to strengthen and consolidate Advantage Waste Brokers, to grow the business and to attract new clients: there are some ambitious plans on the table but I think the company has great potential to move forward over the next few years, so watch this space!”

David will continue to work closely with Recycling Lives and intends to strengthen the connection between the two companies, which work closely with one another to provide an ethical, effective and integrated WEEE recycling service to Advantage Waste Brokers’ customers.

Organisations that sign up with Advantage Waste Brokers not only receive impeccable  service and the peace of mind that comes from being legally compliant in their operations; they are also able to say that their WEEE recycling scheme helps to support good causes across the UK.

Like all of Recycling Lives’ commercial recycling services, the company’s WEEE recycling operations help to sustain the Recycling Lives charity, which offers support to homeless and long-term unemployed men.

Former director Ian commented on his time at Advantage Waste Brokers:

“During my time at AWB we have recruited and kept a large number of blue chip customers. We’ve also doubled our local authority customer base over the last four years, and we were proud to be one of the first WEEE compliance schemes to be approved by the Environment Agency.

“Advantage Waste Brokers prides itself on standing apart from competitors. We’re in our ninth consecutive year of maintaining ISO 9001 certification for quality, and ISO 14001 for Environmental Standards, and we offer our customers a great opportunity to boost their Corporate Social Responsibility agenda – with no extra effort.

“I’m sure David will continue to help Advantage Waste Brokers maintain its position as an industry leader, and I wish him all the best in his new role.”

While Ian plans to take life easy from now on, spending more time on his passion for motorbikes, he intends to maintain an advisory role with Advantage Waste Brokers, offering guidance and support wherever needed.

We wish both Ian and David all the best for their future endeavours!
