Having launched the first ever Recycling Lives staff survey earlier this year, we’re pleased to reveal that the results have now been published and are available for everyone to take a look at it.
In order to ensure we’re adhering to our Quality Policy and that staff members are happy in their work, we decided to introduce a survey and find out what staff members really think. In addition to asking employees to rate the help and support the receive within their role, we asked staff how they felt they were treated at work and whether they were aware of what Recycling Lives hopes to achieve over the next three years.
Our Quality Policy sets out the standards we aim to achieve regarding the culture at Recycling Lives. As well as understanding our customers and achieving financial success through hard work and commitment, the Policy also states that we are committed to enjoying what we do and that we will respect, support and develop our people.
As highlighted by the results of the survey, our commitment to ensuring our workplace is happy, safe and productive is working well with the vast majority of respondents reporting that their department is free from bullying, that they understand how the work they do contributes to the aims of the company and that they are treated fairly and with respect.
Once again, the vast majority of survey respondents reported that they are clear about what is expected from them in their role, that they are clear about what Recycling Lives does and aims to do and that they receive the necessary Health and Safety information in order to carry out their roles.
Although the survey results are largely positive in most areas, we’re keen to improve wherever possible and will be using the results and your feedback to make positive changes across the company.
In response to staff feedback, we will be undertaking a thorough review of all plant machinery and tools to ensure that each member of staff has the equipment that they need in order to work safely and effectively.
We shall also be introducing quarterly meetings so all staff can be briefed on upcoming company projects and shall be asking for ideas from staff members regarding how we can engage with staff families more and what incentives they would like to see being introduced.
In addition to these changes, we will be encouraging staff members to apply for new roles within the company should they be seeking a promotion or a job change. All job opportunities will continue to be advertised internally and those that would like to apply will be welcome to do so.
We would like to thank all staff who took part in the survey and encourage even more of you to do so in the future. By giving your feedback and completing the survey, you have highlighted not only areas which are working, but those key areas in which we can improve.
We are pleased that so many staff members reported that they are satisfied in their jobs and that they are proud to work for Recycling Lives. We look forward to introducing new changes to improve the workplace for all employees and hope that our commitment to our Quality Policy ensures a satisfying, safe and productive working environment for all.
