This week saw the business arm of Recycling Lives open its doors to the general public.
The facility, which is situated on Kent Street in Preston, opposite the entrance to ESP plumbing supplies, is now fully equipped to buy or accept via the gift of waste all grades of non-ferrous and limited amounts of ferrous metal.
A spokesman from Recycling Lives said:”We are delighted to be opening our doors for business today. We are in a convenient location, ready to buy all grades of metal from the general public which will generate revenue to support the charitable arm of our organisation. Next week we will be opening our Tyre bay which will allow us to check, fit and balance new and part worn tyres to all makes and models of vehicles.”
The facility boasts an impressive de-pollution system installed for the safe disposal of end of life vehicles. Initially the vehicles undergo the removal of all liquids and gases. They are then deemed safe to be moved onto one of the more specialised stripping bays where they will be dismantled for reusable car parts before their removal to be crushed as scrap metal.
Recycling Lives is set to create employment opportunities and a much needed boost to the local economy. As the facility grows, wealth in the surrounding community will be regenerated, which can only be good news for everyone living and working in this part of Preston.
