Recycling Lives win Business of the Year Award 2015

We are very pleased to announce that Recycling Lives have been awarded Business of the Year at the Downtown in Business Lancashire Business Awards 2015.

The awards, hosted by Downtown in Business, recognised outstanding businesses and inspiring companies throughout Lancashire. The ceremony was a prestigious black tie event, held at the Mercure Dunkenhalgh Hotel and Spa in Blackburn. A team of Recycling Lives managers and directors got glammed up for the event, including Alasdair Jackson, Dave Allen, Katie Roxburgh, Paul Finnerty and Gary Halpin.

Recycling Lives were nominated for two awards; Employer of the Year and Business of the Year. We missed out on Employer of the Year to Blackburn Rovers, but the team were delighted when Recycling Lives was named as Business of the Year, collecting our shiny new award which is now taking pride of place in reception at the Recycling Lives centre.

The Award recognised our unique social business, sustaining charity through metal and waste recycling. Recycling Lives are leading the way for socially responsible businesses, proving that it is possible to have a commercially successful business whist sustaining a charity. 2015 has been a big year for Recycling Lives commercially, with our state of the art fragmentiser up and running, enabling the company to grow and expand into new markets.

Alasdair Jackson also presented the Best Property Business of the Year award to Cassidy & Ashton.

The awards were hosted by Frank McKenna, chief executive of Downtown in Business, who welcomed all of the nominees and kept them entertained throughout the night. With a fun photo booth and a twitter wall which got everybody talking, the event was a great success. As well as Recycling Lives, many prominent businesses and organisations from around the North West were in attendance, from Lancashire County Council and the University of Central Lancashire to top accountancy firms.

Frank McKenna said: ‘Congratulations to all the winners and nominees who attended the awards last night. It’s fantastic to celebrate the hard working companies in Lancashire each year and see the level of support they have for each other’.

Dave Allen, who attended as part of the Recycling Lives team, said: ‘We had a great time at the event, and we were really honoured to receive this award. It was a great night for everyone, and we definitely celebrated! Congratulations to all of the other winners and thank you to Downtown in Business for hosting the awards. Bring on next year!’
