Recycling Lives CEO shortlisted for Growing Business Award

Steve Jackson OBE, CEO of Recycling Lives, has been shortlisted for the Entrepreneur of the Year award at the prestigious Growing Business Awards.

The nomination recognises Steve’s unique vision for the social business model of Recycling Lives, in addition to recent company growth despite challenging market conditions. The acquisition of an industry-leading fragmentiser and the development of web-based community recycling services, Community Dotcoms, has prepared the business for growth over the next 5 years. Recycling Lives are now working with more blue chip clients providing national waste and metal contracts.

Recycling Lives strives to find innovative solutions to divert waste from landfill, achieving up to 100% recycle rates across the business. To further their environmentally responsible business growth, the Business Growth Service supported Recycling Lives with developing more lean manufacturing processes. Reviewing our current processes enabled us to highlight areas where waste was evident and where it could be reduced or eliminated. They have also been working on up-skilling the senior management team on their knowledge of processes within lean manufacturing, whilst the Business Growth Service provided assistance with implementing the most suitable processes across the business.

Alasdair Jackson, CSR and Sustainability Director at Recycling Lives said:

‘The training we have received in lean manufacturing from the Business Growth Service has allowed us to continually streamline our business and reduce waste. Our lean manufacturing processes have resulted in increased operational efficiency levels across the business.

‘Due to measures such as this, the business is continuing to grow; it’s great to see this being recognised through Steve being shortlisted for the Growing Business Awards’.

Keep an eye out for the results of the Growing Business Awards on the 26th November.
