Recycling Lives Founder and Chairman wins top entrepreneur award

The Founder and Chairman of the unique commercial recycler and social welfare charity, Recycling Lives, has won a top Entrepreneur award.

Steven Jackson has won the 2010 Chamber Award’s, Entrepreneur of the Year category.

Recycling Lives provides opportunities to disadvantaged members of society facing an uncertain future; by providing accommodation, education, training and work experience.

A 2010 winner of the Queen’s Award for Enterprise in Sustainable Development, Mr Jackson was commended for the business incubator units he offers to aspiring Entrepreneurs.

Mr Jackson will now battle it out with two other Preston based winners, OBAS UK and MyMall for the national trophy in the British Chambers of Commerce’s Chamber Awards 2010 later this year.

Recycling Lives Founder and Chairman Steven Jackson said: “It is a great honour to win the Chamber Awards 2010 Entrepreneur of the Year category. Recycling Lives is a business set up to deliver sustainable Corporate Social Responsibility. As an organisation we really care not only about the environment, but about people and the impact our day to day business operations are having on the wider community.

“The business incubators and work opportunities available at Recycling Lives are my way of doing something positive for the community I was brought up in.”

Recycling Lives provides a unique solution to the growing national problem of worklessness, homelessness, social exclusion, educational disadvantage and welfare dependency.

Recycling Lives has also been widely recognised as a recycling and waste management sector leader for more than 40 years, providing a complete recycling and waste management solution for all.

Having won regional awards, the three are now in the running for the national title in their category, as well as the chance to collect the Award for Outstanding Business Achievement – with a top prize of £25,000 and runners up prizes of £15,000 and £10,000.

There are eight categories, backed by high profile sponsors including RBS and NatWest, AXA PPP healthcare, BT, Base and Westfield Health.

The national winners will be announced at a ceremony at London’s Hurlingham Club on November 25th.
