My aim is to help as many women as possible to make changes in their lives

“If someone had told me a few years ago I’d be working in a prison – the same prison I had previously been in – I would have thought they were crazy. But here I am… and I’m absolutely loving it.”

Yvonne is proving to be an inspiration in HMP Styal. As manager in Recycling Lives Academy there, she is a mentor women can really identify with, having spent time in prison herself many years ago.

Before working at HMP Styal she had worked for Recycling Lives for four years, proving herself to be hard-working, trustworthy and highly capable. Her work in the prison has seen her nominated for an award by the offenders for her “outstanding commitment” to them.

“My aim is to help as many women as possible to make changes in their lives like I did – something has to click for them to want to change and I just hope my story and influence motivates that. “Recycling Lives had faith in me, trusted me and gave me the chance to be where I am today.”
