Ian had lost everything when he got to prison – facing 20 months in HMP Lancaster Farms. He knew, after years of offending and jail time, he had to stop using drugs and committing crimes. But how? “I was ready to change my life but I had no direction or motivation to do so. Until I met Recycling Lives.”
Ian worked in the Recycling Lives Academy, learning a wealth of new skills, and was promoted not once, but twice.
He was also supported to detox from opiate substitutes. On release he moved into Recycling Lives’ residential charity and started the Six Stage programme.
He is now working full-time at Recycling Lives Recycling Park as a highly skilled crane driver, and living in his own home. “Being able to settle somewhere else was massive for me, as well as my family being proud of me. I feel excited for the future now.”
