Nico joined us on a work placement in March 2016, after spending seven months out of work. After impressing during the four-week placement, when he got the chance to try a wide range of roles in the warehouse, he was offered a full-time job at the Recycling Park.
Want to help a good cause? We provide a wide range of voluntary positions that can help you learn a new skill set, gain qualifications and help other people while you do it.
Offering voluntary positions in our food redistribution centre, we provide opportunities to work in warehouses, as an administrator or as a van driver (amongst others). On the job training comes with each of these positions, as well as the chance to gain qualifications as a fire warden, in warehousing distribution, forklift driving and first aid.
All the work our volunteers do is vital for the support of our food redistribution centre, which helps to feed hundreds of people across Lancashire and Cumbria who are living in food poverty.
So, if you’re looking to get back into the workplace after a long period of unemployment, change your career or simply want to put your skills to good work, we might have the perfect voluntary position for you.

Recycling Lives is a rapidly expanding business – which means that our charitable activities are expanding too. To support this growth, we are always looking for new volunteers who can help us do more for the local community.
Our voluntary positions are offered to a wide range of people, from industry professionals who want to support a good cause, to the long-term un-employed, ex-offenders and homeless we support through our charitable activities. Our goal is to provide an inclusive environment where volunteers can become a part of running our Food Redistribution Centre and learn new skills or qualifications
