Spotlight on New Apprentice - Solomon
Why Choose a career in Recruitment?

I chose a career in recruitment because I liked the idea that you can earn more the harder you work.

I attended college straight out of school to pursue a career within the IT Industry, but realised pretty quickly that it wasn’t the right career path for me.

From an early age, I've always shown a keen interest in my father's Cyber Security sales career – he explained his role in detail to me and told me the secret to his success: that ultimately people like to buy off people they like. This is a philosophy that I apply to my role as a recruitment consultant now.

Why did you choose Recycling Lives People?

When I was told about the opportunity here at Recycling Lives it was a no-brainer, the USP we have is so valuable and the idea that we are indirectly helping those in need by just doing our job is mind-blowing.

What has been your most memorable success to date?

I’d say my most memorable success in my career to date must be my first deal. I was guided through the process by my colleagues and learnt so much. The feeling of joy when the candidate accepted his offer felt simply amazing and I wouldn’t have traded it for anything.

What challenges have you overcome in your early career?

Since the start of my career I have faced many challenges, some of which I have not yet overcome. I’d say the biggest challenge I have overcome is becoming more confident on the phone and learning to handle objections better.

What are your interests outside of work?

I have many interests outside of work, including sports like Muay Thai, Football, Mountain biking and Basketball. I also like to reading, learning new things and spending time with friends and family. I am interested in business and hope to have my own business one day in the future.

What are your personal and career goals for 2018?

My biggest personal goal for 2018 is passing my driving test. I've been having lessons for a while now and spend most evenings reading the Highway code so hopefully I'll be qualified before the summer. My career goals for 2018 involve helping my colleagues continue Recycling Lives People’s success and through that, continuing to
support and sustain Recycling Lives’ charitable activities.
