In April one of the stalwarts of Recycling Lives retired. Dave Skull has been working in and around the scrap metal business for longer than many of the employees of Recycling Lives have been alive!

He began his career with a company called Mayer Newman back in the late 1970’s at Fleetwood Docks where he drove a wagon. After a while Dave graduated onto driving a crane which he has been doing ever since. He moved to our current site at Red Scar when Mayer Newman were sold in 1985 then became our employee in 1999 when we acquired CSM Metals. Since then Dave has worked on one of the cranes for us and has been seen every day for years working the No.1 steel pile in his orange crane and his skill will be sorely missed.
In Dave’s opinion his job has not changed a great deal over the years other than improvements in the machines he drives which are now much more comfortable and easy to operate.
Dave will celebrate his retirement by taking his family on a holiday to Majorca and has bought a Yamaha Fazer 600cc motorbike to go travelling after that.
