Recycling Lives Exports to the World
Recycling Lives have stumbled onto a new market.. Car Parts Export. We were receiving an increasing number of enquiries from foreign customers who were looking for parts that we Brits would normally dispose of. Rather than send these customers away with nothing we decided we should look to supply the demand!
For example, in the UK the legal limit for minimum depth of tyre tread is 1.6mm but most people tend to replace their tyres before they get so low. A company in Morecambe now buys all our 13 and 14 inch tyres with a tread depth of 2mm or above and exports them to Africa.
Another customer who is in Malta buys car doors from Recycling Lives. We have filled a 20ft container for him purely with doors, 130 of them!
We have another 20ft container ready to go to a customer in Nigeria. This one contains 25 complete cars that have been broken down into smaller items. The engine and gearbox are sent as complete units, all suspension components and all removable panels and lights are separated.
It goes to show that one man’s rubbish is another man's treasure!
