Achieve North West
Achieve North West – a consortium of five North West Probation Trusts, led by Merseyside Probation Trust – is delivering NOMS’ ‘Services to Improve the Employment Prospects of Offenders across Merseyside and the North West’. Delivery of the service is focused around the NOMS case management model; offenders are assigned a case manager who works with them throughout their journey to employment, working in parallel with offender managers who manage their offending behaviour.
The project employs 41 case managers who work across the region in both community and custodial settings, and aims to deliver 30% of interventions in prisons and 70% in the community. The role of the case manager is to develop a tailored action plan which is dependent upon the participant’s specific employment needs. These plans feature a wide range of interventions some delivered directly by case managers (particularly early interventions such as motivational work) and some by specialist sub-contractors.
Achieve North West sub-contracts with 23 different organisations across the region, drawn from the public, private, and voluntary and community sectors. They offer a range of specialist services including mentoring, training courses, volunteering opportunities, work placements and employment brokerage. The range of sub-contractors ensures that the project remains focused on meeting an individual’s specific needs.
In partnership with our sub-contractors, Achieve North West is a high performing project which consistently achieves employment and learning outcomes for hard to reach individuals.
