Occupational Health & Safety

The waste management and recycling sector is known for its inherent danger. Therefore Health and Safety awareness is at the core of the Recycling Lives operations. Recycling Lives adheres to strict Health and Safety policies and procedures, which apply to all members of staff.

Personal Protective Equipment

All employees are issued with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to protect them against the inherent dangers found in the waste management and recycling industry. This equipment provides a good amount of protection from a variety of dangers. Some examples of PPE include high visibility clothing, steel reinforced boots, Kevlar gloves, goggles, and ear plugs.

Other safety initiatives include signage, designated walkways and restricted access to dangerous areas of the operation. There is a disciplinary system in place for employees who do not follow Health and Safety initiatives.

Operating Machinery

Many of our employees operate heavy machinery, and their safety in doing so is paramount.

All employees who operate machinery are trained by an RTITB certified instructor and are extensively supervised during operation by the designated department supervisor, and monitored via CCTV by senior management.

All employees, whether operations or office based, undertake a mandatory Health and Safety and Manual Handling training course, held by a National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health (NEBOSH) certified instructor. All plant and machinery operatives receive Safe Systems of Work training and manuals, and the Health and Safety team carry out regular operational and site assessments to ensure we remain compliant with current Health and Safety legislation.

Regular fire drills are held at every site.
