Creating Opportunities.

Rehabilitation and reoffending are commonly identified as key issues facing our overcrowded prison systems. By equipping offenders with the skills, self-confidence and work experience, we are helping people to escape a recurrent cycle of repeat offending and release their potential.

Our HMP Academies aim to provide offenders with the tools and skills required to successfully reintegrate with society in a fulfilling and productive way. Our network of installations are enabling people to create a brighter future for themselves, using support provided by us – and the statistics completely agree with this; Our current reoffending rates are 10x lower at 6% than the national average of 67%.

Our Facilities

The Recycling Lives business sustains charity through commercial metal and waste recycling services. In addition to our social welfare charity, which assists people struggling with homelessness, our HMP recycling facilities provide work experience, training and skills which prepare prisoners for life after prison.

We operate electrical equipment recycling facilities at satellite installations within HM prison services, including FPD (Flat Panel Display) and other IT equipment dismantling. Full training is provided, to ensure that the programme is appropriate for all abilities. Prisoners are paid for the work, 40% of which goes towards victims support funds. All the commercial skills training is delivered by experienced staff, many of whom joined Recycling Lives through our ‘Release Potential’ programme.

#ReleasePotential

As 2016 drew to an end, we followed some of the successful participants who had turned their life around thanks to the Release Potential campaign – and created a five-minute film for you to see.

A five-minute film that describes prison and rehabilitation from the perspective of men that served a sentence. Men, who are not looking for pity, simply an opportunity to release potential and become better people.
