Recycling Lives offers a multi-agency solution to a variety of topical issues. Addressing worklessness and homelessness, through our own activities and by encouraging social-entrepreneurialism, Recycling Lives aims to reduce the number of people currently receiving state benefit. We use effective training and support programmes and provide access to employment, performing a range of recycling activities using new skills acquired from our work based training. Extensive pastoral support and mentoring are provided to assist in personal rehabilitation; and by promoting good social skills development and inspiration to all who partake in Recycling Lives activities, we strive to break the cycle of negativity and anti-social behaviour.
After an initial discussion with a support worker or mentor, we will explain all about Recycling Lives and how it may be suitable. Needs and requirements are uniquely assessed and the most appropriate courses of action decided upon. Recycling Lives will invite you to sign an individual 'life plan' contract and subsequently your development with the charity. Should accommodation be required and you feel happy and comfortable to live in a Recycling Lives centre for a trial period we will register you as a resident and you will be allocated one of our quality en-suite bedrooms. An introduction period will make you feel relaxed and at home in your new surroundings and your mentor or support worker help will be available at all times.
If necessary we can introduce you to an NHS worker who will undertake a full medical examination, to identify and recommend any treatment required. You will be registered with a Doctor and a Dentist, and if specialist treatment is required you can be referred to an appropriate consultant.
We will begin to introduce you to the training and work experience opportunities we have and together we will decide what is most suitable for you; what type of training and work experience you would like, either manual work or administration work, and whether that will be within the Recycling Lives building, or perhaps working with our teams off-site. We cultivate a teamwork ethos at Recycling Lives, and you will not be asked to undertake tasks or work that you are not skilled to perform, and it will always be with the agreement of your mentor and support worker. Some of the work will be:
At some point you will begin to feel that the time is approaching to leave the centre. The charity will give all possible assistance, using our partnership contacts, to find you another home. You will not be asked to leave until all concerned are satisfied that you have the right place to move to, whether that is into your own accommodation, or with another charity or agency who may help further.
We hope very much that you will choose to stay employed by Recycling Lives even after relocating, so that you may inspire the next generation of residents; however, in the event that you wish to move onto alternative employment we will assist you to find a suitable job.
