The chair itself is an emergency evacuation system for the decent of stairways. The centre has now ordered three after being very impressed by the demonstration. The Chair itself allows smooth, safe operation so a single person can evacuate a colleague in an emergency situation with ease. It is light weight and easy to use and helps to meet duty of care under Health & Safety and Disability Discrimination Legislation, It also meets obligations under Regulatory Reform (fire safety) Order 2005.
Lincoln Leech, Recycling Lives team member took part in the trail. He said:”At first I was a little nervous about going downstairs strapped into a chair. Once the decent began I found it quite enjoyable and was very impressed with the concept.”
